My father lives in FNQ (Far North Queensland), and on a visit two years ago I found a great little biodynamic dairy called Mungalli Creek in Millaa Millaa. Situated in a fantastic position with magnificent views of hills, Mungalli makes cream, milk, cheeses, dips, and yoghurt. Whenever I’m up in FNQ I go sick on the fresh fruit and Mungalli Crreek yoghurt. But today I found it in Melbourne at Macro Wholefoods in The Glen. I’m a happy girl.
As you can see in my banana/honey/granola/yoghurt combo above, the yoghurt is pot set with the cream floating to the top (mmm…the best bit!). If you’re feeling healthy, you can skim the cream off and have low fat yoghurt. But geesh, why bother. A little fat never hurt anyone! Eat it straight up, or mix it round.
They also make a bush honey version which is also very good.

I’ve eaten their cheeses for a while now – the organic Havarti and havarti with peppercorns. But I’ve never tried their yoghurt – p’raps because I’ve been stuck on Jalna for so long – but I’ll give it a go next time I see it. Been meaning to go to one of the Wholefoods but just haven’t gotten around to it.
Another great yoghurt is Elgaar Dairies in Tasmania. They do an organic full fat and skim version which is divinely creamy and tart.
Skim off the cream!!!! Never! I think the idea causes me a heart attack. Just for that I’m going to have to buy some of their cream.
Hey Haalo – I very much concur with your thoughts. It would be damn near sacrilegious to skim off the cream!!
The cream is ok in biodynamic food because your body can sort it out …not like the homoganised stuff were it sticks to your weight because your body cant seperate the cream out .

I am a tour operator & I take my people to Mungalli Dairy 5 days a week & the people say the yoghurts & cheeses are some of the nicest they have tasted. I have seen that they use only organic produce to puree the fruits for their different yogurts. The greek yogurts are sensational.
As a Cairns local I highly recommend all of their products. (My daughter will only drink the Mungalli Milk).
You lucky thing Brett. I love Mungalli, and can occassionaly get their products at the Queen Vic Market in Melbourne. But whenever I come up to FNQ to visit my father, we ALWAYS stop by Mungalli for a fix.
You are fortunate indeed to have access to such wonderful product!
