Nihonshu Shochu and Sake Bar

20080812Nihonshu.jpg

Oooh…I can’t wait for this one to open! Nearing completion, Nihonshu Shochu and Sake Bar is the new sister to Izakaya Chuji (165 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne).  I’ve been peeking through the window when I stroll past, spying a wonderful handcrafted timber counter being built before my eyes.  Mmm…I can imagine sitting at it eating izakaya-type snacks and drinking sake already!

Hi Kayo - yes we did! We went to Izakaya Chuji for dinner one night, and popped into Nihonshu for a pre-dinner drink. Basically they have a stunning array of sake and shoju, and some wonderful umeshu. They hve a few “bar snacks”, which pretty much come from next door eg. edamame, takoyaki, okonomiyaki etc. I think we were in there on their first night, so I don’t quite think they had hit their mojo yet. But I must go back and give it a good try now they’ve been open a few weeks.

Hey lynn - yes, it’s right next door to Izakaya Chuji, and you actually have to walk into the restaurant to get into it.
