Looks like a new izakaya might soon be giving the very popular Izakaya Chuji a run for its money. J-Pub Shogun sits on the corner of Tatterstalls Lane on Lonsdale, only a few short blocks away. The venue is still being fitted out, but I spied a rather nice yakitori/sushi counter through the front door the other day. Looking forward to some good Japanese beer on tap – fingers crossed for Kirin!

lol, I walked pass this the other day as well and I was actually wondering if you’ve seen it yet as you were one of the first people who mentioned about new pacific house. Looking forward to see what it has to offer
Hey HH – well, I’ve been, but so far, I’m not as impressed as I thought I would be. I’ve only eaten from the lunch menu, but am interested to go back and try the yakitori at night before I write a post. It appears to be fusion Korean/Japanese, and despite the most excellent fit-out, the food just falls short in ways it shouldn’t (ie. serving sashimi without soy, the miso/dashi is bland, the food being rather clumsy and gluggy). The only things I really liked were the salmon onigiri, and a vinegary eggplant starter.
