O, be some other name! What's in a name? That which we call a poffertjes by any other name would smell as sweet
The Dutch have such a delightful way with words. If the name poffertjes doesn’t get you salivating, how about adding some stroop (molasses), slagroom (cream) or aardbeien (strawberries)?
Poffertjes, or Dutch Pancakes by their other name, are small leavened batter pancakes cooked in a special cast iron pan that kind of looks like the divets on the surface of a golf ball, only bigger. Traditonally the batter is leavened with yeast, but I’m thinking the ones above are leavened with baking powder/soda, which are a little easier to turn out. That being said, they still taste good; tender batter blobs smeared with butter (ahem…margerine) and sprinkled heavily with icing sugar. I opted for additional toppings of maple syrup, aardbeien, and slagroom. Tasty!
The Tram Stop is only open on Sundays, which is when they close off Queen Street to traffic in which to allow seating for the mobile food vans. It is also becoming rather popular – so get in early before all the poffertjes and aardbeien’s run out!

What kind of prices do they have per plate?
It’s under a tenner. Can’t exactly remember now!
